The popular 'Ada Derana'- 24 ‘Get Real ’ investigative TV feature, telecast on Monday (9) evening had an extensive discussion with Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva who is also the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, as regards the control of ‘COVID-19’, Possibilities of Lifting Quarantine Curfew & Isolation Measures, Responsibility of All Segments in Society, Restrictions for 'New Normalcy', Maintaining of Essential Services, Support to Government's ongoing Preventive and Relief Mechanism, etc. The TV feature is to be retelecast on Tuesday (10) at 7.00 pm in the same channel.

One more round of discussions, held this afternoon (6) at the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID- 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya re-visited the transmission of the deadly virus, its current behavioural patterns and evaluated the status quo in regard to PCR test procedures, existing strategies and their repercussions, co-operation between those responsible authorities and new cases/inmates in hospitals and the state of Quarantine Centres (QCs), etc.

As of this morning (7), a total of 400 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. All of them were from locally-identified affectees, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

In the wake of urgent transmission taking place elsewhere in relation to the spread of COVID – 19 pandemic, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army with the intention of inspecting the progress of the proposed emergency hospital in Krishnapuram, Kilinochchi visited it and closely watched all aspects of the ongoing project on Saturday (31).

The Quarantine Curfew now in force in the western province against transmission of COVID-19 will continue from 5.00 am on Monday (2) till 9th November 2020, next week since the majority number of COVID-19 patients are reported from the western province. Similarly, Quarantine Curfew will be in effect in Kurunegala Town area, Kuliyapitiya and Eheliyagoda Police areas until Monday (9 November), so announced Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army in a special statement telecast this afternoon (1) at 4.00 p.m through the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation (SLRC) and other channels. He appealed the general public to cooperate at this critical juncture by restricting movements as much as possible and adhering to health guidelines.

By this morning (15), a total of 132 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Among them 05 are employees of the Minuwangoda garment factory and other 127 were locally-identified close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
