    By this morning (12), a total of 124 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Among them were three expatriates (one from Oman at Sungreen Habarana QC and 2 from Kuwait at Norochcholai and Passara QCs) and remaining 121 were locally identified close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

  • 29 More Confirmed Positive to COVID-19 -NOCPCO

    A total of 29 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 within the day (9). Among them were 19 from Minuwangoda Garment factory (18 close associates of the Minuwangoda garment factory and one employee of the factory) and the rest 10 were expatriates (5 from UAE at Biyagama village QC, 2 from Ethiopia at at Sigiri Hotel QC, 2 from Iran at Kalpitiya Beach QC and 1 from Sudan at Sigiri Village QC), states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

  • Garment Factory Numbers Rise- NOCPCO

    A total of 207 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 within the day (8). Among them were 202 from Minuwangoda Garment factory and the rest 5 were expatriates (3 from Russia at Pitipana QC and 2 Indian seafarers), states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

  • 111 More Recovered Individuals Leave Hospitals - NOCPCO

    Two more COVID-19 positive patients, expatriates from the UAE and South Sudan each from the Quarantine Centre (QC) at Punani and the QC at Hotel Jetwing were reported this morning (19). The total number of infected detainees as of this morning (19) by 6.00 am at the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug addicts at Kandakadu stands at 629. Of them, 508 individuals are detainees under rehabilitation, 67 staff members, 5 guest staffers, 48 family members and close associates, including 01 person who got in contact with the infected one in the Welikada Prison, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

  • No COVID-19 New Cases Identified During Last 24 Hours-NOCPCO

    Not a single COVID-19 infected patient has been reported in the past 24 hours and the total number of infected detainees at Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug addicts at Kandakadu stands at 600 as of this morning (2) by 6.00 am. Of them, 482 individuals are detainees under rehabilitation, 66 staff members, 5 guest staffers, 46 family members and close associates and 01 person who got in contact with the infected one in the Welikada Prison.

    Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army appeared in ' Get Real ' TV talkshow in 'Ada Derana 24 X 7' this evening (13) in a wide-ranging interactive interview explained the present status of the COVID19, recurrence of clusters, importance of continued adoption of health practices in the country, etc. The programme will be re-telecast on Tuesday (14) from 7.00 pm.   • COVID-19 Cluster in Kandakadu Increased to 490- NOCPCO

    A Media Release issued by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) this evening (12) stated as follows:

    By this afternoon (12) at 4.00 pm, 94 more COVID-19 positive cases were reported from the Kandakaduu Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts, managed by the Ministry of Justice. Accordingly 429 detainees, out of 829 inmates in the Rehabilitation Centre were confirmed positive to COVID-19 by today (12). A total of 47 staffers out of 312 in the Rehabilitation Centre were also confirmed positive by this afternoon (12).
