Head NOCPCO Currently in North Evaluating COVID-19 & Security Status Quo

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army this morning (17) undertook a visit to the northern region, intending to inquire into the status quo of tri-service managed Quarantine Centres, security and evaluate current concerns and needs of those centres.

In addition to the fact-finding mission, a few minutes ago Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva as the Chief Guest opened the newly-built Kilinochchi Military Hospital, a vital need of military troops serving the region. This state-of-the-art Kilinochchi Military Hospital with 75 beds and other facilities was built by 11 Corps of Engineer Services troops within a few months.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva together with several Senior Officers and health officials is currently visiting those Quarantine Centres at the time this report was filed. (Ends)
