Garment Factory Numbers Rise- NOCPCO

A total of 207 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 within the day (8). Among them were 202 from Minuwangoda Garment factory and the rest 5 were expatriates (3 from Russia at Pitipana QC and 2 Indian seafarers), states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (8), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda Garment factory is 1034.

The flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 42 persons has arrived by this morning (08) and all of them were to be sent to QCs for necessary quarantining.

Within the day (8), 164 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 02 persons are from Ruwala Kalpitiya QC, 01 from Jetwing Beach QC, 06 from Hotel Mirage QC, 10 from Hotel Ruwanweli QC, 12 persons from Rajagiriya Ayurveda QC, 18 from Diyagama QC, 48 from Kosgoda Sheraton QC, 01 from Agriculture Training School QC, 61 from Hambantota Shangrila Hotel QC, 01 from Galkanda QC and 04 from Habaraduwa Police QC.

Likewise, 49,577 individuals by this morning (8) have been sent back home so far after quarantining. As of this morning (8), 8029 persons in 80 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (7), 1280 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 308,989.

By 6.00 this morning (8), 08 fully recovered COVID-19 affected persons went back to their homes from hospitals. All of them are expatriates who were in quarantine.

The total number of fully-recovered detainees in quarantine at Kandakadu and Senapura Treatment and Rehabilitation Centres for Drug Addicts stands at 650. (Ends)
