    One more review meeting of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID- 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya got underway this morning (19) with the participation of the Head, NOCPCO, all health authorities and medical experts with the objective of assessing the status quo with special focus on home-quarantining strategy and the state of Quarantine Centres (QCs), emergency procedures, travel restrictions, etc.

  • Troops-Converted New ICC at Town Hall Building Formally Vested in Health Authorities

    Troops of the 112 Brigade and the 3 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment camp in Nuwara Eliya handed over the converted Town Hall building at Nuwara Eliya to the health authorities on Monday (17), expected to serve as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) in the event of any surge in the number of infectees of COVID-19 in the region.

  • Army Seva Vanitha-Improvised Biggest Emergency Facility for COVID-19 Infectees Ready

    Troops of 23 Gajaba Regiment, 3 Sri Lanka National guard and Corps of Engineer Services of the 112 Brigade took steps to convert one ward at Tangalle Base Hospital to serve as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) in the event of any surge in the number of COVID-19 infected ones in the region. The ICC is now in operation from Thursday (13) onwards.

    Troops of the 7 Gemunu Watch under command to the 68 Division and the 681 Brigade of the Security Forces-Mullaittivu disinfected Udayarkaddu South area and its weekly fair premises on Sunday (16).

  • 2456 More Confirmed Positive-NOCPCO

    As of this morning (18), a total of 2456 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The majority of 677 are from Gampaha District. Among them, the majority 136 were from Biyagama town area, 83 from Nittambuwa, 72 from Kadawatha and 58 from Wattala, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

  • Private Company Gifts 10 ICU Beds to Army-improvised ICC at Seeduwa

    Giving a boost to the Army-improvised Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) at Seeduwa, now almost done, the management of Upfield Sri Lanka Pvt Ltd this morning (17) gifted 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds to the Army for use in the new ICC in case of any emergency.

  • 521 Brigade Troops Disinfect Achchuvely Area

    11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 521 Brigade troops of the 52 Division on the directions of Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander, Security Forces -Jaffna, and under guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division carried out a sterilization programme in Achchuvely area on Saturday (15) with the objective of curtailing the speedy transmission of the COVID-19 virus among the general public in Jaffna.

    As of this morning (17), a total of 2275 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The majority of 438 are from Colombo District. Among them, the majority 56 were from Mirihana town area, 42 from Piliyandala, 38 from Mulleriyawa and 37 from Moratuwa, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
