FORMAL FAREWELL DINNER BIDS ON THE RETIREMENT OF MAJOR GENERAL NALIN KOSWATTA AND BRIGADIER BANDULA LIYANAGE

On 04 June 2022, revitalizing an age-old military tradition, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Centre hosted a Farewell Military Dinner Night while adhering all the safety measures stipulated by the government and the health authorities to prevent the COVID- 19 pandemic, in honour of the retiring Major General K A N NKoswatta RWP RSP ndu and Brigadier G B Liyanage RSP, and outgoing members of the VijayabahuSevaVanitha Branch Mrs. SulochanaKoswatta and Mrs.

RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL NALIN KOSWATTA FELICITATED

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment during a colourful ceremony, blended with military formalities and ceremonials on 04 June 2022 bade farewell to outgoing Major General K A N N Koswatta RWP RSP ndu.
The proceedings began as the day's protagonist, Major General Nalin Koswatta entered the premises to be saluted at a Guard Turnout in his honour. Senior officers and the regimental staff warmly welcomed the outgoing General in front of the VIR War Heroes' monument and then he paid floral tributes to the VIR War Heroes' monument and PWV monument.

MAJOR GENERAL ROHITHA ALUVIHARE ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE NEW DGGS AT OCDS

The newly appointed Director General General Staff (DGGS) at Office of Chief of Defence Staff, Major General S R B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc assumed duties on 03 June 2022 during a brief ceremony at the OCDS.
Amidst the blessing of the noble Triple-Gem, the new DGGS of OCDS signed an official document, signifying the acceptance of the new appointment.
Major General Rohitha Aluvihare has served a number of other senior key appointments in the capacities of operational, administrative and staff across the country since his enlistment to the Army in 1988.

RETIRING BRIGADIER BANDULA LIYANAGE FELICITATED

A felicitation ceremony was held at the Regimental Center on 28 May 2022 to honour retiring Brigadier Bandula Liyanage, Center Commandant of the Regimental Center Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock in accordance with military traditions upon his retirement from the Army.
To recognize his retirement, a brief but colourful ceremony was organized at the VIR Regimental Centre, headed by the Center Commadant, Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment.

THE VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT CONDOLES ON THE DEATH OF MAJOR MWNPB RAMBUKWELLA VIR (RETD)

It is with deep regret and profound sadness that the Colonel of the Regiment and all ranks of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment to pronounce the demise of Major MWNPB Rambukwella on 22 May 2022. .
Major MWNPB Rambukwellawas bornon04November1953 and received his education at Kingswood College Kandy. .

OPENING CEREMONY OF NEWLY RENOVATED OTHER RANK’S TEA-HOUSE

The opening ceremony of newly renovated Tea-House for the other rank soldiers was held at the Regimental Center premises on 25 May 2022. This can be recognized as another step taken by the Regimental Center to improve the welfare of soldiers.The Center Commandant, senior officers, regimental staff and other ranks participated for this event. This notable event was organized by adhering all the health guidelines stipulated by the government to prevent COVID - 19 outbreak.

VESAK DANSELA ORGANIZED AT RHQ VIR

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre and Regimental Headquarter Battalion shared Buddhist virtues of generosity by organizing a Bread and Seeni Sambola ‘Dansela’ at Archers Welfare Bakery premises which benefitted 1200 locals in Boyagane area on 17 May 2022 on account of Vesak commemoration. All expenses for this free eatery were born by Officers of Regimental Staff, Regimental Headquarter Battalion and 6th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

VIR BOXER DOMINATES THE LES CEINTURES INTERNATIONAL BOXING TOURNAMENT PARIS – 2022

Les Ceintures International Boxing Tournament - 2022 underwent from 12 May 2022 to 15 May 2022 at Paris, France. In that giving pride to the whole nation and Sri Lanka Army, S/211501 Lance Corporal Prasanna PAR of 24th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was titled as the Champion in weight class below 57 kg event.

MAJOR GENERAL PRASANNA RANAWAKA ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE NEW QMG

The newly appointed Quarter Master General of Sri Lanka Army, Major General R A D P Ranawaka RWP RSP USP ndc assumed duties on 23 March 2022 during a brief ceremony at the Army Headquarters.
Amid chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha, the new DGGS signed an official document, signifying the acceptance of the new appointment.
Major General Prasanna Ranawaka has served a number of other senior key appointments in the capacities of operational, administrative and staff across the country since his enlistment to the Army in 1987.

MAJOR GENERAL D M K D B PUSSELLA RWP RSP ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE NEW WEST COMMANDER

Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP assumed office as the 13th Commander of Security Forces Headquarters (West) on 04 May 2022.
Troops of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment awarded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour tothe newly appointed Commander Security Forces (West) soon after his arrival to the premises, in accordance with military traditions.
