  • SLAWC WON THE 1ST PLACE IN THE INTER BATTALION , PLATOON AND SUPPORT WEAPON COMPETITION

    At the end,7 SLAWC troops emerged victorious after a very close tussle and carried away the championship while their rival RHQ SLEME troops were placed second. SLAWC team was comprised with one Officer and 5 Other Ranks. They received their victorious trophy from the Commander of the Army.

    Sri Lanka Army Women’s Symposium was held on 04th December 2018 at BMICH with the theme Women: The Bedrock of Peace & Sustainable Development. HE the president Hon Maithreepala Sirisena was the chief guest. The commander of the Army Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayake addressed the gathering and stated his views on Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps & the Symposium as well. Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Sirimewan Ranasinghe and Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, Mrs Chandrika Senanayaka, President Army Seva Vanitha Unit, along with several prominent women activists and key resource personnel participated in the event.

  • MAJOR GENERAL M MUDANNAYAKE RSP USP ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE 16th COLONEL COMMANDANT OF SLAWC

    The Major General M Mudannayake RSP USP the assumed duties as the 16th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps on 17th August 2018 with the blessings of religious observances. After receiving the Guard of Honour he addressed all rankers after the tea party. He addressed officers at the officers’ mess, regarding the challenges and future plans.

  • WOMEN'S CORPS ARCHERS SHOWED THEIR COLOURS IN 18TH DEFENCE SERVICES ARCHERY CHAMPIONSHIP

    18th Defence Services Archery Championship was held on 24th and 25th July 2018 at the Air Force Headquarters Ground Colombo. Women’s Corps Archers won majority of medals in the competition.

  • ARMY NETBALL TEAM SECURE "DEFENCE SERVICES CHAMPIONSHIP" AFTER 18 YEARS

    The 10th Defence Service Netball Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force was held from 4th to 6th April 2018 at Sri Lanka Air Force Indoor Stadium Thummulla. Army netballers historically secured the Defence Services Netball Championship - 2018 after absence of 18 years by defeating the Sri Lanka Air Force team and Sri Lanka Navy team.

    The tournament was played on League Basis, In the first game Army defeated a star-studded Air Force side, which had seven current Sri Lanka players, 46-40. The opening two quarter were close, where Army edged out Air Force 11-10 & 12-10. However, the third quarter proved to be the game changer as Army took an 8-point lead with a 12-7 win (35-27). Though Air Force won the 4th quarter 11-13 they fell six points short (46-40).

  • Late War Hero’s Offspring & Athletes Awarded Incentives

    Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake recalling memories of gallantry in the battlefield and appreciating gains of national and international fame in the field of athletics and sports awarded incentives and laurels to a teenager and two Army personnel after inviting them to his office at the Army Headquarters on Monday (2).
