The Korea International Women’s Invention Exposition (KIWIE) 2019, organized by the Korea Women Inventors Association was held from 20 June 2019 to 25 June 2019 at Seoul City, South Korea. Its main objective was provide an opportunity to women inventors to take part in economic promotion and business match-making.
S/6R00326 Lance Corporal Nishanthi J C I of 5th battalion of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps was qualified to represent Sri Lanka in this event. She has won the silver medal (under the Engineering Category) for her innovative and creative product, ‘Efficient Incinerator for Safe Disposal of Sanitary pads and other Bio Waste at Women’s Living Facility’ competing 365 competitors from 38 countries. This is the first instance that a female soldier of the Sri Lanka Army was able to win a silver medal in an international competition of this nature.
