1. The next step of our Seva Vanitha Branch is to raise funds for our future welfare activities by building handicrafts using locally available raw materials in accordance with a concept of the President of Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock.
2. In the first phase, a three day training program was conducted at Army Farm Kandakadu on 20.02.2022 with the involvement of women soldiers(militerized) in the Army under the patronage of the Chairperson of our Seva Vanitha Branch to create designs using Water Hyacinth, palm leaf and false layers of banana.
3. Mrs. RP Kusumawathie, a Presidential award winner, who has experience in handicrafts and has introduced her products to several countries and conducted training programs, was the first to introduce Water Hyacinth related creations to Sri Lanka.
4. Special attention was paid to the Colonel Commandant who participated in the observation of the training program and under our regiment, we placed an order for hats made of Water Hyacinth to cover from sunshine for all the soldiers who works in field duty at all army farms.
