On the 14th of May, 2026, the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock bid a heartfelt farewell to its 6th Colonel Commandant, Major General K D M L Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, a leader whose distinguished career and excellence and exemplary service rendered to the betterment of this Corps. With a legacy built on steadfast leadership, dedication, and visionary guidance, Major General Samaradiwakara is leaving behind a trail of significant contributions and a well-fortified foundation for future progress.
The outgoing Colonel Commandant was warmly welcome, and the day’s proceedings commenced with a solemn Guard Turnout, marking the arrival of the outgoing Colonel Commandant at the Regimental Centre. A moment of grandeur and military precision unfolded as the guard of honour was held in his honour, a vibrant display of discipline and respect. The colourful ceremonial gourd of honour was meticulously reviewed by Major General K D M L Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, accompanied by the Centre Commandant RHQ SLACAL.
Major General K D M L Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc addressed all ranks, offering his reflections on his tenure and expressing his deep gratitude for the unwavering dedication and commitment shown by both officers and other ranks. It was followed by a hearty all-ranks tea, where officers and soldiers gathered to share in the camaraderie of the occasion and collective pride of the SLACAL family.
The highlight of the evening was the farewell dinner hosted at the Officers' Mess, a lavish affair attended by the Corps’ officers and their spouses. The dinner, a perfect blend of military formality and heartfelt warmth, was punctuated by speeches of admiration and well wishes for his future endeavours.
