THE SRI LANKA ARMY CORPS OF AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK CONTRIBUTED 948 KILOS OF BATANA HARVEST TO INCREASE THE EXPORT INCOME OF THE NATION

As recent as 16 June 2022, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, embarking upon this gigantic project of national and timely importance established the Army's Green Agriculture Steering Committee (GASC) in order to supplement and promote the island’s food security programme by cultivating more than 1500 acres of barren or derelict state lands across the country after the government offered more lands to the Army for cultivation. In line with above programmes the third volunteer battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock has arranged to provide a harvest of 948 kilos of Batana on 06 July 2022, contributing to increase the export trade in the country. This harvest will export through the Heyleys Company in Sri Lanka and it will directly involve to bring foreign exchange to our motherland and this will bring a huge income to Sri Lanka Army as well.
