SLACAL SEVA VANITHA BRANCH PRODUCES NEW ENTREPRENEURS TO BOOST THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMY

After establishing the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock on 4th January 2021

in order to supplement and promote the island’s food security programme this newly established Corps has started the green agriculture war in Sri Lanka.Simultaneously with the establishment of this Corps, the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Seva Vanitha Branch was started in 17 October 2021 with the guidance of Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP and under the tremendous leadership of the Hon. first President of Seva Vanitha Branch SLACAL Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekera.

Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Seva Vanitha Branch is an association comprised with wives of serving officers and other rankers of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock. It carries out multifaceted welfare activities with the vision of formulating alliances to uplift Welfare Measures for the next kin of our soldiers and taking steps to stimulate the morale of all serving personals and implementation of various welfare projects.

At present, there are different projects carried out by this branch. Such as produce of productions related to coconut fibers, selling of coconut midrib sticks, vegetables grown in protected houses and production of handicrafts using water hyacinth, palm tree leaves, coconut leaves and banana stem peels. Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and livestock Seva Vanitha Branch launched online marketing web page “Viruliya” in association with patpat.lk. In this context other ranker’s wives gets an opportunity to sell their products without any burden or cost via their web.

sssThis branch supposed to launched different projects in future such as production of clay products, Batik productions, expanding of herbal gardens in Army Farms throughout the country in association with Ayurveda Department of Sri Lanka and Dehydration project which aims dehydration of foods and export them to the world market to upgrade the living standard of our people. Donation of Kumbuk saplings to uplift the harmony among other regiments and donating of water filters for the improvement of welfare and of other rankers are the tasks carried out by Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock to contribute for our regiment as newly started branch.
