NEW COLONEL COMMANDANT OF SRI LANKA ARMY CORPS OF AGRICULTURE & LIVESTOCK ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General K D M L Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, Director General of the Financial Management Branch at Army Headquarters, assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL) on 07 November 2025 during a dignified ceremony held at the Regimental Headquarters in Karandeniya.

Major General Laxman Samaradiwakara was honored with a lively Guard Turnout on his arrival at the premises.Subsequently, the Centre Commandant, Brig S M C A S Samarathunga RSP, invited the incoming Colonel Commandant to inspect the Guard of Honour, followed by the traditional salute.

Afterwards, Major General Laxman Samaradiwakara entered his new office, where he signed the official document marking the formal assumption of duties, while the religious observances were performed. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the importance of the Corps, its vital contributions to the Sri Lanka Army, and its role in national development. He further emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline as a cornerstone of military excellence and a key factor in achieving regimental objectives.

Following the address, the newly appointed Colonel Commandant joined the customary all-ranks tea, where he engaged in cordial and meaningful interaction with officers and other ranks.

The ceremony was attended by members of the SLACAL Council, senior officers, officers, and other ranks, making it a memorable and dignified occasion.
