"Empowering Courage Woman through Entrepreneurship" Programme conducted by SVB SLACAL

Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livesstock added due recognition to the Army women who rendered service for the defence of the motherland and all women in general during a special event organised in lieu of ‘International Women’s Day’ project, themed ‘Empowering Courage Woman through Entrepreneurship’ held on 12 Mar 2022 at 4th Artillery Unit Auditorium at Army Cantonment Panagoda..

Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP at the invitation of Mrs Shanthi Abeysekera , President, Corps of Agriculture Seva Vanitha Unit graced the event as the Chief Guest, together with a Director Agriculture and Livestock Brigadier Arosha Rajapaksha, Brig Bandula Liyanage Centre Commandant and Senior Officers and their spouses were attended for the ceremoney.. The day’s programme was featured by welcome dance musical flavour where the pride of feminism and their importance to society was highlighted.

The lighting of the traditional oil lamp and the observance of a two-minute silence in memory of all fallen War Heroes set the stage ready for the day’s climax, Sevavanitha Unit presents a series of video with project updates to the audience reminiscent of the steps taken by the Seva Vanitha Unit CAL over a period of last five months.

A gathering of spouses of Officers and Other Ranks were joined the occasion and enjoyed the aesthetic flavour of the whole programme while Mrs. R P Kusumawathie delivered a keynote address on Art & handicrafts after presenting a series of videos featuring courageous women's self-creations in the Corps of Agriculture and Livestock.

Event was Sponsored by CDB and same time, CDB launches with Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Seva Vanitha Unit Resales website "Viru Liya"in association with Pat Pat .lk and launched online marketing. In this context spouses of all Army Offrs & other ranks gets an opportunity to sell their products without any burden or cost via their web. Further Lieutenant Colonel Sujith Edirisinghe SLACAL coloured the stage with a heartfelt lecture on " War and Women." and how its supported to all military spouses.

Meanwhile, Mrs Shanthi Abeysekera towards the end of the day’s programme showing gratitude for the success of the project awarded mementos to Mr.Charitha Warnakulasooriya Manager-Marketing

Suneth Senadheera Senior Manager- Emerging Digital Business and crew members of the CDB who provided live coverage and to officials of Pat Pat .lk

Special token of appreciation done to Mrs Nadee Liyanage who was awarded as " best woman Sales and Marketing" at the Vanitha Abimana award ceremony held recently by Sirasa TV.

All attendees were given a " Swayanjatha Al wee "sapling token of memory of the day, 85 Kumbuk plants to President of SVB of Engineer Service Regiment , 23 Water filters to SLACAL units & its farms, Dehydrate machine- to 1 SLACAL for proposed project of Dehydration of Foods and 413 ltrs of Dulux paints to colour wash buildings of farms of Corps of Agriculture and Livestock through the assistance of Mrs Kaushalya Ranasinghe member of SVB SLACAL.

Days event conclude with the address of Col Comdt SLACAL about the development projects of Corps & future of Army Agriculture also thanking its sponsors and all members for valiant effort to bring " Prosperity to Motherland "

Display of Agri Products and Art & Handicraft of" Viru Liya" of SVB SLACAL were held after the programme.
