COL COMDT VISITS 3 (V) SLACAL -KANDAKADU ARMY FARM GALKANDA AND MODEL FARM ARALAGANWILA

Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock Major General WBSM Abeysekera RSP USP has visited 3 (V) Regiment Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock and its under command Army farms Galkanda and Model Farm Aralaganwila on 13 and 14 January 2023.

The Col Comdt was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel BMTA Baddewela RSP psc IG SLA, Commanding Officer, 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture & Livestock , and accorded with a ceremonial drive pass by the troops of 3(V) SLACAL. After planting of a sapling Colonel Commandant distributed School Books, Dry rations, Chicks, Mushroom cultivation packs were some of donations arranged by CO 3(V) SLACAL together with assistance of SVB SLACAL for the Other Ranks, Militarize Person and Civil Servants serving in 3 (V) SLACAL for those who are in severe financial difficulties due to the current economic crisis in the country. Commanding Officer and other Senior Officers also participated to distribute these packs for them.

During the visits, Col Comdt inspected accommodation areas and highlighted some sp ecial areas to improve with the given time frame and thanks for all ranks during his speech for the effort made by them to maintain the farms in a good standard.

Further, he visited the large scale Coconut, Chilli, Mango and Paddy cultivation projects conducted under the unit followed by and inspection of the Kandakadu Ration Pack project and also a proposed site for the construction of water sumps developing irrigation system at Kandakadu Farm.

The next day Colonel Commandant visited Army Model Farm Aralaganwila and left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the Visitors’ Book before the culmination of the day's proceedings.
