551 Brigade Troops Disinfect Point Pedro and Nelliady Area

16th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 4th Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 551 Infantry Brigade troops of the 55 Infantry Division on the directions of Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) together with guidance given by the General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division Major General Sisira Pilapitiya RWP RSP USP and under the supervision of 551 Brigade Commander and respective Commanding Officers carried out a sterilization programme in Point Pedro and Nelliady area on Tuesday 18 May 2021 with the objective of curtailing the speedy transmission of the COVID-19 virus among the general public in Jaffna.

Foreign Employees Proceeding Home After Government Quarantine Process

A number of 96 foreign employees flew from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Italy, Dubai, Korea, Bahrain, Germany, Mozambique, Abudhabi and Singapore set off to their homes after completing two - week quarantine process at Vasavilan Quarantine Centre in Jaffna, on Tuesday, 18 May 2021. Personnel who underwent the quarantine process appreciated the commitment and dedication of the army troops at Vasavillan Quarantine Centre.

The quarantined people were segregated according to their respective residential locations and provided necessary transport facilities to reach their destinations in Pelmadulla, Badulla, Pottuvil, Matara, Wattala and Mahiyanganaya. Further, they were provided with packeted meals, snacks, water bottle, before commencing their journey.

Commander Security Force (Jaffna) Lays a Cornerstone for a Two-Story Building at Palaly Army Base Hospital

Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu laid a cornerstone for the construction of two story building at Palaly Army Base Hospital on Monday 17 May 2021.

Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu graced this brief but colorful cornerstone laying ceremony as the Chief Guest and he was greeted in a drive pass on arrival and warmely welcomed by Major Lahiru Rathnaweera Commanding Officer of Army Base Hospital Palaly.

As the auspicious minute struck, amid chanting of 'Seth Pirith', the day's guest laid the first cornerstone for construction of the new two-story building complex. Brigadier Wandhitha Mahinkanda, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North) and Senior Officers followed suit.

This proposed 180 X 50 feet new two-story building is to be completed within a few months by Army funds and the combined support of Army Engineers and troops of SFHQ-Jaffna under the supervision of 5th Battalion of Engineer Services Regiment.

521 Brigade Troops Disinfect Valvettithurei Area

11th Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 521 Infantry Brigade troops of the 52 Infantry Division on the directions of Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) together with guidance given by the General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division Brigadier Harendra Peiris RWP RSP USP ndu and under the supervision of 521 Brigade Commander and respective Commanding Officers carried out a sterilization programme in Valvettithurei area on Saturday 16 May 2021 with the objective of curtailing the speedy transmission of the COVID-19 virus among the general public in Jaffna.

Accordingly, Valvettithurei Bus Stand, Market Places, Banking Complexes, Shops, Police Station and general crowded areas were disinfected and thoroughly cleaned under this sterilization project.

521 Brigade Troops Disinfect Achchuvely Area

11th Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 521 Infantry Brigade troops of the 52 Infantry Division on the directions of Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) together with guidance given by the General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division Brigadier Harendra Peiris RWP RSP USP ndu and under the supervision of 521 Brigade Commander and respective Commanding Officers carried out a sterilization programme in Achchuvely area on Saturday 15 May 2021 with the objective of curtailing the speedy transmission of the COVID-19 virus among the general public in Jaffna.

Accordingly, Achchuvely Bus Stand, Market Places, Banking Complexes, Shops, Three-wheeler parks and general crowded areas were disinfected and thoroughly cleaned under this sterilization project.

551 Brigade Troops Clean Roadside Ways in Jaffna

A 'Shramadana' campaign to rid mosquito-breeding spots and control the spread of Dengue and removal of bushes with pollen that cause respiratory problems got underway in Jaffna on Tuesday 11 May 2021. During this community – based project, the 4th Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 16th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry in Puloly cleaned the road patch of 4 Km along Uduppiddi to Karanawai in Point Pedro – Jaffna (A-20).

This programme was launched on a concept of the Commander Security Force (Jaffna), Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu and with the guidance of General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya RWP RSP USP and under the supervision of Commander 551 Infantry Brigade.

Commander Security Force Jaffna Inspects the Construction of Navatkuli Intermediate Care Centre

Commander Security Force Jaffna, Major General Priyantha Perera undertook an inspection visit to the reconstruction site at the Navatkuli Intermediate Care Centre on Wednesday 12 May 2021.

During the inspection visit, the Commander Security Force Jaffna instructed troops to expedite the construction work as quickly as possible and commended the commitments and dedication of troops. Further, he closely inspected available resources at the location and paid the extreme attention for the immediate requirements and developments of ICC to treat the patients in the event of any increase of COVID-19 patients in future. This ICC can accommodate 300 patients at any given time.

Commander Security Force Jaffna Supervises Improvised Intermediate Care Centre at Vaddkkodai

Army improvised Intermediate Care Center (ICC) at Vaddkkodai is ready to function and Commander Security Force (Jaffna) Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu undertook an inspection tour on Wednesday 12 May 2021.

Newly improvised Intermediate Care Centre at Vaddkkodai has 200 bed capacity along with required medical staff employed from Base hospital Point Pedro at Manthikai.

Troops Of 512 Infantry Brigade Sterilize Jaffna Township

Jaffna city and Railway Station sterilizing and clean up programme was conducted by the troops of 17th Battalion of Gemunu Watch and 14th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment under the guidance of the Commnder Security Force Headquarters Jaffna, Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu, on the instructions of General Officer Commanding 51 Division and under supervision of the Commander 512 Infantry Brigade.

The sterilization programme launched according to Ministry of Health guidelines on 12 May 2021. Army troops used the personnel protective equipments and other needs to sterilize public places of Central Bus Stand Jaffna, Jaffna Hospital Road, Kankesanturai Road, Grand Bazaar Street, Kasthuriyar Road, Power House Road, Clock Tower Road and Market premises of Jaffna City and Jaffna Railway Station.

551 Brigade Troops in Covid Control Programme

On the instructions of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division and Commander 551 Infantry Brigade, Covid - 19 awareness programme was conducted in general area of Nelliadi Town by the troops of 4thBattalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 08 May 2021. The intention of the programme was to raise awareness among people to understand the importance of wearing face masks to control the spread of new variant of the virus. As an encouragement, face masks were distributed among civilians. Public Health Inspectors, Police officers, and Grama Niladharis of the area too took part in the programme. Programme was conducted focusing the civilians who visited the Nelliadi Town during busy hours.
