16th Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 4th Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 551 Infantry Brigade troops of the 55 Infantry Division on the directions of Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) together with guidance given by the General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division Major General Sisira Pilapitiya RWP RSP USP and under the supervision of 551 Brigade Commander and respective Commanding Officers carried out a sterilization programme in Point Pedro and Nelliady area on Tuesday 18 May 2021 with the objective of curtailing the speedy transmission of the COVID-19 virus among the general public in Jaffna.
Accordingly, Point Pedro and Nelliady Bus Stand, Shopping Complex, Banking Complexes, Three-wheeler parks and general public crowded areas were disinfected and thoroughly cleaned under this sterilization project.
