Major General Aruna Jayasekera Commander Security Forces (East) visited the Poson Zone of Jayasumanaramaya Trincomalee on 18 June and attended a special \Ashirwada Gilanpasa Pooja amidst the reverberating rhythmic traditional drum beats (Hevisi and Magul Bera) around the Dathu Mandiraya.

The troops of 22 Division organized a Poson Zone at Jayasumanarama Maha Viharaya in partnership with Dayaka Sabha of the temple to commemorate the arrival of Mahinda Thero and the introduction of Buddha´s teaching to Sri Lanka on the Poson Poya Day. The poson zone consisted with devotional songs (Bakthi Gee) free eateries (Dansel) special religious programmes etc. The Poson zone will continue till 20 June.

As gesture of reconciliation and understanding among different faiths of the Eastern Province, a special “Iftar” program was organized by 23 Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on Wednesday 29 May at Grand Jummah Mosque Pothuvil on account of forthcoming Ramadan festival. Major General Mahinda Mudalige General Officer Commanding 24 Division participated in the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Event was organized with the guidance of the Chief Maulavi of Pothuvil Grand Jummah Mosque and with the directions and supervision of Brigadier Damitha Ranasinghe, the Commander 242 Brigade.
