In accordance with the instructions of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General W D C K Costa RSP USP a lecture on Human Rights was conducted on 21 September 2020 at the lecture hall of 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch. Representing the Human Rights Commission the lecture was conducted by Mr Viranjan Dias Sumanasekare, the Regional Coordinating Officer of Uva Province in the presence of five officers and sixty five soldiers of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and its under command Divisions, Brigades, Units and Training Schools.

Pusul Pitiya Rajamaha Viharaya is an ancient temple in Kothmale area which is also believed to be where Prince Dutugemunu spent his childhood when king Elara was ruling Anuradhapura. Since the temple is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central), the troops of 19 Sri Lanka National Guards provided the labour assistance to remove a Beduru plant which was on the sacred Sapu tree.

Personnel who trapped inside the earth mounds after a landslide caused a building to fall onto a house were recovered by the troops on 20 September 2020 in Buwelikada, Kandy.

In accordance with a concept of the Commander of the Army planting of herbal saplings was taken place at the premises of Security Forces (Central), in parallel with the ‘Herbal Medicine Day’. The Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General W D C K Costa RSP USP also graced the occasion along with Brigadier General Staff of SF HQ (Cen), Brigadier K R K K T Bandara RSP USP and other Officers.

The wild fire occurred on 17 September 2020 in Galkanda area in Diyatalawa and Diganathenna area in Bandarawela was doused by the troops of the SF HQ (Cen) on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General W D C K Costa RSP USP. A team consisting of one officer and fifteen soldiers reached the place immediately and doused the wild fire completely.

Orientation programmes for 50 000 graduates, recruited to public sector were commenced on 14 September 2020 island-wide. In parallel with this ‘Saubhagyaye Dekma’ programme which is conducted under the direction of HE the President, the training establishments of Security Forces (Central) also commenced the orientation training programmes under the supervision of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General W D C K Costa RSP USP. Intending to uplift the leadership qualities, confidence, knowledge, skills as well as attitudes to achieve the objectives of the nation through energetic and effective work force these training programmes were designed and conducted by the military personnel. Moreover, Senior Officers, Officers and instructors of the under command training schools participated in the inauguration ceremony.

Brigadier S M S P B Samarakoon RWP RSP assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 11 Division which is under command to Security Force Headquarters (Central) at an auspicious time on 03 September 2020. Brigadier Samarakoon is a well experienced senior officer who has discharged duties in many establishments as well as higher headquarters.

Major General W M J R K Senarathne RWP RSP relinquished the appointment of the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division which is under command to Security Force Headquarters (Central) on 02 September 2020. On the same day a Guard Turnout was accorded to the outgoing General Officer Commanding by the troops of 10 Gajaba Regiment. That was followed by a troop address and a tea party. All the Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Division and its under command Brigades and Units also participated in this event.
