23 Gajaba Regiment (GR) and 3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops which are under command to the 122 Infantry Brigade of the 12 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Central jointly launched a community-oriented project by cleaning the road passage to Vedasitikanda in Kataragama and its surrounding areas on Sunday (14).

Military personnel of Security Force Headquarters (Central) and its under command formations were lectured on the Benevolent Fund of Sri Lanka Army which promotes the concept of thrift among the military personnel. The Director of Army Benevolent Fund, Brigadier R P S Padmashantha conducted the lecture in order to make aware the military personnel on the benefits of it. This lecture was conducted on the direction of the Commander of the Army and the supervision of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General H P N K Jayapathirana RSP on 22 February 2021.

11 Division of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) celebrated the 11th anniversary of establishing the Division in the Central Province on 15 February 2021. Accordingly, a series of programmes were launched with the supervision of Major General S M S P B Samarakoon RWP RSP, the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division in order to celebrate the above event.

HE the President on a visit to Meemure village for “Gama Samaga Pilisandarak”, a community interaction session instructed to renovate the playground of Kaikawala Primary School in Meemure responding to a request made by the students as well as the parents. Accordingly, the preparatory work of the playground and the constructing a new two story classroom complex which were a long felt need for the school entrusted to the Sri Lanka Army.

A rescue mission was launched by the troops of Security Force (Central) in searching of the 3D Animator who went missing whilst on a camping tour in the mini World’s End site in Madolsima area. Amidst the adverse weather, troops of Sri Lanka Special Forces and 112 Brigade of Security Force (Central) conducted the rescue mission for several days. Eventually, they found the dead body of the missing person down a 1200ft precipice on 09 February 2021.

A Cannabis cultivation in the Kalliwewa Reserve, Kataragama was raided by the troops under command to 121 Brigade of Security Force (Central) on information received from Military Intelligence troops on 11 February 2021. For the accomplishment of this raid two Officers, twenty Other Ranks of 20 Sri Lanka Singha Regiment as well as five Police Officers joined sharing their expertise and nearly 300kg of illegal crop was destroyed.

A simple ceremony was organized by the 12 Division of Security Forces (Central) on the promotion of the General Officer Commanding of 12 Division, Major General R A D P Ranawaka RWP RSP USP ndc to the rank of Major General on 11 February 2021. Major General Ranawaka received the salute of the Guard of Honour by the troops of 23 Gajaba Regiment. In remembrance of this special day the GOC planted a mango tree sapling at the camp premises. That was followed by the troop address and all the Officers and Other Ranks extended well wishes to the GOC of 12 Division.

In accordance with the directions of the Army headquarters, 12 Division of Security Force (Central) organized a programme in order to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day. Accordingly, the national flag was hoisted by the General Officer Commanding of the Division and the National Anthem was sung with the participation of all ranks of the Division. Among the scheduled events, the tree planting programme was a major event. With the participation of all the Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Division this event was conducted at the camp premises successfully.
