A distinguished felicitation ceremony was held on 6 February 2026 at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, to honour Major General C D Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc on his promotion to the rank of Major General.
The ceremony commenced with a Guard Turnout, followed by an admirable Guard of Honour, symbolising the recognition of Major General Chandana Wickramanayake’s exemplary service, leadership and dedication to the Sri Lanka Army.
Upon arrival, the newly promoted Major General was warmly received by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier R M Subasinghe RSP. A meticulously organised Guard Turnout at the Main Entrance was thereafter conducted, following which Major General Chandana Wickramanayake paid a floral tribute to the Fallen War Heroes, paying solemn respect to those who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
In keeping with time-honoured military tradition, Major General Chandana Wickramanayake took the salute at the Guard of Honour, reflecting the pride and discipline of the Corps. He was thereafter invited, along with his family, to the Office, where he was cordially greeted by Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
The felicitation ceremony concluded with a formal tea at the Officers’ Mess, during which the Chief Guest was warmly received by the Regimental Council Members, Senior Officers, and all Sapper Officers. The occasion marked not only a significant milestone in Major General Chandana Wickramanayake’s illustrious military career but also reflected the strong camaraderie, pride, and unity within the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
