The 14 CBRNE Response Regiment successfully conducted a lecture and practical demonstration for the participants of Basic Disaster Response Course (BDRC) No. 29 at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response (SLACDR), Gampola, on 31 January 2026.
The programme was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and preparedness of disaster response personnel in handling Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents. During the lecture session, it has provided a comprehensive introduction to CBRN concepts, highlighting various CBRN hazards, their potential impacts, and the standard response procedures to be adopted during emergencies.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of personal safety and operational readiness during CBRN situations. Accordingly, a practical demonstration was conducted on the correct method of wearing Personal Protective Kits (PPK) and the use of other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) essential for effective protection and response in hazardous environments.
The demonstration enabled course participants to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of protective measures, thereby improving their confidence and capability to respond effectively during disaster situations involving CBRN threats.
This initiative reflects the continued commitment of the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment and the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers to strengthen disaster preparedness, enhance inter-unit cooperation, and ensure the highest standards of safety and professionalism within the Sri Lanka Army.
