VISIT OF THE CHIEF FIELD ENGINEER AND GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF SRI LANKA ARMY ENGINEER DIVISION MAJOR GENERAL T C PEIRIS RSP USP TO 9 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

The Chief Field Engineer and General Officer Commanding of Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division Major General T C Peiris RSP USP made his official visit to 9 Field Engineer Regiment at Kilinochchi on Thursday, 8th May 2025. Major General T C Peiris was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 9 Field Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel B D J Rangajeewa USP psc SLE and was accorded a Ceremonial Guard Turnout in his honour.

During his visit, Major General T C Peiris RSP USP addressed the troops on several key aspects of military service. He spoke about the responsibilities involved in fulfilling their roles and tasks, the importance of maintaining discipline as military personnel and the effective deployment of soldiers across various fields of work. He also emphasized the need to balance professional duties with personal life, while recognizing the value and honor inherent in military service. He underscored that discipline is vital to upholding the professionalism of the Sri Lanka Army, reinforcing the idea that soldiers represent the strength and integrity of the military. He encouraged the troops to face hardships with resilience, stressing that overcoming challenges is essential for achieving future success.

To commemorate the occasion, Major General T C Peiris RSP USP planted a “Jack Tree” sapling on the camp premises, followed by a group photograph to mark the visit.

After, the Commanding Officer briefed to the Chief Field Engineer on the current status of the unit, including its Roles and Responsibilities, Organizational Structure, Strength, Field and Plant Engineer task and Demining progress as an affiliated battalion of the 1 Corps and a unit under the command of the Field Engineer Brigade.

Following the formal proceedings, the Chief Field Engineer and the Officers engaged in a meaningful interactive session, this session was followed by a lunch. At the conclusion of the visit, the Chief Field Engineer expressed his appreciation by writing a note of commendation in the “Visitors’ Book”. The event was further dignified by the presence of the Commander of the Field Engineer Brigade , Brigadier H K P Karunathilaka RSP and the Colonel (Project) of the Field Engineer Brigade, Colonel T M P Jalal.
