The military funeral ceremony of Major D L Wijesinghe (Retired) - O/50258 of Ceylon Engineers, a dedicated servant to the nation over 14 years, unfolded on the solemn Friday, 17th April 2025 at the Kohuwala General Cemetery. The event drew a massive gathering of military comrades and mourners, paying their respects to an Officer whose legacy left an indelible mark on the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.
Major General T C Peiris RSP USP, the Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army,led the military hierarchy present at the ceremony along with Brigadier F Joseph USP, the Centre Commandant SLE, symbolizing the profound respect for the departed comrade. Serving Senior Officers, Retired Officers, and numerous mourners gathered to pay the last respect as dusk settled, creating a poignant atmosphere.
As the final rites were performed with military precision and heartfelt reverence, his fellow sapper officers and soldiers stood resolute, saluting the final journey of Major Dougles Wijesinghe (Retired) CE who had given his all in service to his country. Though his time was brief, his impact was profound, and his memory will remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
