On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers organized a heartwarming book donation program at the SALEBA Convention Hall in Mattegoda. This event, launched under the direction of Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, Chairperson of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, aimed to provide educational support to the children of soldiers.
The book donation was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Mr. A.P. Jayarajah, CEO of Nithyakalyani Jewellery, and representatives from the Rotary Club of Colombo East, who have shown unwavering commitment through seven-year partnership in supporting military families. Additionally, Mrs. Anupama Dasanayake played a significant role in facilitating this charitable act.
Each educational gift pack distributed was valued at approximately Rs. 5000 and included a selection of books intended to assist children in their academic pursuits. This initiative aimed to not only support the children’s education but also strengthen the sense of community among military families.
The program was graced by notable attendees such as Major General S. Ranasinghe (Retd) RWP RSP ndu psc and Mrs. Iromi Ranasinghe, along with members of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, all contributing to the success of this meaningful event.
