Under the guidance of Brigadier SPG Gamage RWP RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of Engineer Division, a lecture titled “Scientific way to Fluent English” was organized by Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division on 30 October 2024 at the Mattegoda Camp Premises.
Senior Professor Ruchira Wijesena BSc (Hons) Colombo, PhD (Colombo) conducted the session which provided a broader approach, focusing on communication for servicemen and how to communicate effectively introducing some techniques including paying attention to body language, giving encouraging verbal cues, asking questions and practicing non- judgment.
Moreover, he presented a comprehensible input theory that suggest a second language should be exposed to slightly above the current proficiency level acquiring the language naturally, rather than learning it consciously. Also he described the inputs can come from a variety of sources, including documentary, conversations, books and articles.
30 Officers of the Corps participated in the session and simultaneously shared among the Engineer Brigades and Units via the virtual platform.
