THE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY ENGINEER DIVISION RELINQUISHED THE OFFICE

Major General T C Peiris RSP USP, the 6th General Officer Commanding of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division officially relinquished his duties on 07 October 2024, marking the conclusion of three months of tenure. The ceremonial event was held at the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division Headquarters in Mattegoda adhering to the military customs and traditions.

In tribute to his service, he was accorded a grand farewell, which included a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour presented by the troops of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and then unfolded the scheduled events.

Following the formal military proceedings, he addressed all the under command troops when he expressed his deep gratitude to all Officers and Other Ranks for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. Subsequently, the outgoing General Officer Commanding joined for a group photograph to commemorate the ceremony.

Later on, a ceremonial All Ranks Tea was hosted at the Sappers’ Leisure Bay premises and during the event he also encouraged his troops to extend the same cooperation to his successor.

The programme was culminated with a traditional departure ceremony, where Officers and Other Ranks, standing on either side of the road, saluting the departing GOC, honouring his distinguished service as he left the Headquarters while extending best wishes for his new appointment as the Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army.
