Army Inter Regiment Judo Championship -2024 got underway on Wednesday, 22nd to 25th September 2024 at the Gymnasium of Army Physical Training School – Panagoda. Male and Female matches under various weight categories of the tournament featured fierce doubles competition, teams representing from the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Sri Lanka Signals Corps, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, and Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.
Among the standout performers, female Judo teams, competed from the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers showcased their exceptional skills and strategic gameplay throughout the competition where led them to a commendable runners up in the tournament, highlighting of hard work and commitment to excellence in the sport. Sappers female Judo team was represented by following players have won medals in the tournament.
L/Cpl Herath HMAD of 4(V) SLE –Gold Medal in 44Kg Weight Category
Spr Ranasinghe KGSU of 4(V) SLE – Gold Medal in 63Kg Weight Category and Bronze Medal in Open Category
Spr Jayasinghe THTN of 4(V) SLE – Bronze Medal in 44Kg Weight Category and 3rd Place in Open Category
Spr Senavirathne AVUP of 4(V) SLE – Silver Medal in 52 Kg Weight Category
