The "Eastern Poson Festival" in Ampara was jointly organized by the Presidential Secretariat, Eastern Provincial Council, Ampara District Secretariat and other Governmental bodies. Spanning from 21st to 26th June 2024, this event showcased an array of exhibits contributed by security forces and various government and non-government entities throughout Ampara city.
A highlight of the festival was the Open Poson Lantern competition, which featured over 150 creatively designed lanterns representing diverse organizations.
Notably, the lantern crafted by soldiers of 4 (V) Engineer Regiment, using natural materials such as palm leaves, coconut shells, paddy seeds, and corn seeds, stood out. On June 26, 2024, their creation, the Sappers' Poson lantern, secured the First Place among numerous entries who were in the competition.
