ENHANCING COOPERATION AND CAPABILITY SRI LANKA AND MALDIVES STRENGTHEN MILITARY TIES

The Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General P P A Perera Hdmc psc, embarked on a notable courtesy visit to the Chief of Maldives National Defence Force, Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, on June 23, 2024, at MNDF Headquarters. This meeting coincided with the culmination of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training, underscoring the shared commitment to enhancing military cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

He highlighted the role of continued exchange and training in Explosive Ordnance Disposal, essential for maintaining operational readiness and effectiveness in both nations' defence strategies.

Major General P P A Perera Hdmc psc addressed significant training-related concerns, reflecting on Sri Lanka's pivotal role in advancing the EOD competencies of MNDF Officers and personnel. He highlighted the Sri Lanka Engineers training team's generous contributions, which have significantly bolstered MNDF's capabilities and facilitated transformative strides towards enhanced versatility and proficiency.

At the conclusion of the meeting, symbolic mementoes were exchanged between the delegations, symbolizing the mutual respect and goodwill between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
