JOINT EFFORT UNDERWAY FOR DEBRIS REMOVAL AT VIHARAMAHA DEVI PARK

In response to the recent challenges posed by adverse weather conditions at Viharamaha Devi Park, a concerted effort has been initiated under the direction of the Commander Engineer Division and the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment. The Disaster Response Squadron of the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment has been actively involved in the removal of debris from the park, following a request from the 141 Infantry Brigade.

The aftermath of the adverse weather in the last week (25-30 May) has left the park strewn with fallen trees and a significant accumulation of debris, posing a threat to the park's natural habitat and aesthetic appeal. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Commander Engineer Division, in response to the request of the 141 Infantry Brigade, mobilized resources to address the issue promptly.

The response teams have been deployed to assist the troops of 141 Infantry Brigade in the cleanup efforts. The collaboration between the Disaster Response Squadron and the infantry troops exemplifies a coordinated approach to disaster management and underscores the importance of interagency cooperation in addressing environmental challenges
