CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS BIDS FAREWELL FOR THE OUTGOING COLONEL COMMANDANT

Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers bids farewell to outgoing Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General M K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, on 21 May 2024, in a formal ceremony held at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

Major General M K Jayawardena performed his duties as the 22nd Colonel Commandant, from 04 December 2022 to 22 May 2024 and he rendered his service towards Sappers family as a true leader and gentleman with noble qualities.

The Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Colonel F Joseph USP, upon his arrival. Subsequently, the outgoing Colonel Commandant was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Afterwards, he paid a floral tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes at the Regimental Monument.

Later on, he was accorded a colourful Guard of Honour at the parade square and posed for a group photographs with Sapper Officers, followed by a tea at the WO’s and Sgt’s Mess and All Ranks lunch at the Other Ranks mess.

An evening farewell dinner, graced by Sapper Officers and their spouses hosted in honour of the retiring Senior Officer. Director General Financial Management, Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, delivered the farewell note, expressing deep gratitude for the retiring Senior Officer's exemplary service. In response, Major General M K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu extended his compliment to Officers and Other Ranks for the unwavering support throughout his military career.
