HISTORIC STRIDES: CAPTAIN P C J KUMARANATHUNGA SLE LEADS AS FIRST SAPPER LADY OFFICER IN 76TH INDEPENDENCE PARADE

In a significant display of empowerment and unwavering dedication, Captain P C J Kumaranathuga SLE, a distinguished member of the revered Sappers family and a Lady Officer, etched her name in history by marching proudly in the 76th Independence Parade. Her resolute representation stood for the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

Captain Kumaranathunga, an alumna of Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Galle, stands as a trailblazer and the first Lady Officer not only in the history of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers but also among Support Arms who participated in the Independent Parade.

Breaking through barriers, she exemplifies pioneering spirit among Lady Officers in the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, showcasing an unwavering commitment to overcoming challenges in the competitive military environment. As a proud member of the 5 Field Engineer Regiment and the first Adjutant as a Lady Officer in the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Captain P C J Kumaranathunga not only blazes trails but also serves as the Main Coordinator of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Seva Vanitha Branch.

Her historic steps in the Independence Parade serve as a powerful symbol of the resilience and strength of empowered women within the military, contributing significantly to the proud history of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers while upholding gender equality.
