A Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial Parade saluted to the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, at the Regimental Centre Parade ground and marked another important episode of the series of events conducted with the 72nd Anniversary of the Corps on 09 November 2023.
The Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant Brig SPG Gamage RWP RSP USP on his arrival and accorded with a Guard Turn out. Formerly, the Colonel Commandant was bestowed with a colourful parade offered by the troops of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers followed by an all ranks lunch held with participation of Senior Officers, Officers and Other ranks of Sappers family.
During the Guard of Honour the Colonel Commandant addressed the troops and mentioned the supreme sacrifices made by fallen Sapper Heroes and disabled Sappers to protect the integrity and sovereignty of Sri Lanka. As well as he extended his gratitude for the commitment of soldiers in uplifting the standard of the Corps.
He highlighted the extraordinary contribution of the Sappers in nation building tasks and disaster relief operations. Senior Sapper Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated at this event demonstrating their high note of Esprit de Corps.
