THE SRI LANKAN DISASTER RELIEF CONTINGENT FOR TURKEY READY TO MOVE

Troops were addressed by General Officer Commanding Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc on 13 February 2023 at RHQ SLE Panagoda.Turkey Disaster Relief Contingent Troops of 25 x 275 consisting of 12 x 210 operational group, 06 x 00 analytical & planning team, 03 x58 logistic group and coordinating group. Contingent is commanded by Sri Lanka Army Chief Field Engineer Major General MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu and deputy contingent commander is Brig SPG Gamage RWP RSP USP.

During the troop address by General Officer Commading of Sri Lanka army Engineer Division Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc explained the importance of preparedness before such mission and protection of contingent troops at high risk and adverse weather condition and lack of infrastructure facilities. Further, he stated that the responsibility and faith that kept on contingent troops and carries along with as members of the victorious army of a proud nation Sri Lanka to be kept always in mind and not to involve in any ill legal and ill- norm activity during the mission. Also, he stated that all mission troops carrying out Ambassador duty at eyes of world community

Moreover, Engineer division arranged an awareness programme for situation orientation on present Turkey disaster relief process and historical background of the country including existing extreme climate and weather condition in the mission area with the assistance of Mr. Vijaya Dissanayake, The senior foreign affairs analysis and lecturer on current affairs with the direction of Maj Gen Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc.
