MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA WAS APPRECIATED AND FELICITATED BY ALMA MATER

Dharmapla College, Pannipitiya commemorates the 82nd Founder’s day on Thursday, the 8th December 2022. To mark the Founder’s Day, in a rear gesture of appreciation, hailed one of its great product, Major General Lanka Amarapala, the Commander of Engineer Division.

The felicitation ceremony was jointly organized by the Dharmapala College Principle, teachers, students and Past Pupils’ Association (PPA). A large gathering of students and members of the college tutorial staffs welcomed day’s Chief Guest for the 82nd Founder’s Day.

Major General Lanka Amarapala was honoured and saluted by the Cadet Platoon of the College at the entrance premises after the Commander Engineer Division was welcomed by the Principle, Ms. Maheshika Rupasinghe and President of PPA at the main entrance of the college. After a while, Major General Lanka Amarapala paid his respect by laying a floral wreath and saluting Ven. Anagarika Dharmapala statue. A little later, the day’s Chief Guest, hoist the National flag and the ceremony got underway to Main Auditorium.

At the auditorium the Principle, welcomed the Chief Guest and all the distinguished guests for the 82nd Founder’s Day. The theme of the day was “Leading Future Generation for a Great Leadership”, which was later emphasised by the Vice Principle, Mr. Nimal Wasala. Thereafter, the day’s Chief Guest Major General Lanka Amarapala was invited to enlighten the Future Leaders of the College “The Prefects” and the senior students.

“I recalled my memories as a student like you in a school uniforms over 30 years ago, during my tenure in school me and my contemporaries faced many challenges. Major challenge was balancing education, sports and extra-curricular activities. However, I was blessed and fortunate enough to grow and moulded under this great Dharmapala College to become who I am today” he said.

Furthermore, Major General Lanka Amarapala reminded all the prefects and senior students of the college the importance of developing their leadership qualities to face the non-traditional threats in particular drugs. After concluding his speech, the Principle presented an appreciation memento to the Commander of Engineer Division on behalf of the all teachers and students.

The Commissioner General Rehabilitation, Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi, The Commissioner General of Prison (Administration) and Spokesman, Mr. Chandana Ekanayake and many other past Palians were among the distinguished guests.
