The Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Brigadier M P K Madurapperuma RSP USP psc paid the first official visit to the 8 Field Engineer Regiment on 27 October 2022. The Centre Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of the 8 Field Engineer Regiment Lt Col A L I W K Athugala RSP USP psc SLE, all Officers and Other Ranks.
The visit was commenced from a Drive pass and followed by planting a sapling in front of the office complex of the unit, troop address, All Rank Tea, and Inspection of unit accounts.
During his speech, the Centre Commandant emphasized to the troops the importance of career advancement and the living conditions of a soldier by instructing them on the military disciplines that every sapper Officer and soldier must follow.
The Center Commandant also provided suggestions for increasing revenue from unit profit-generating projects as well as his direct experience with account administration.
