12 Field Engineer Troops Coinciding Under 612 Infantry Brigade Participate in Beach Cleaning Programme in Kalutara District

The National Marine Resource Conservation Week (17 – 24 September), 12 Field Engineer Regiment launched beach cleaning programme in Kalutara district covering highly-polluted major coastal areas, littered with discarded wrappers, polythene, plastic bottles, empty beer cans, empty liquor bottles, etc.

The beach cleaning programme was organized under the guidance of the Commander, 612 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Bandula Kariyawasam, with a view to creating an attitudinal awakening of the public and make them recognize the value of coastal and marine resources while attracting community contribution for beach cleanup efforts.

The programme was initiated under the instruction of CCD Kalutara district with participation of few officials in the programme. The troops of 12 Field Engineer Regiment of 612 Infantry Brigade extended support to clean coastal area in Kalutara South
