NEWLY REFURBISHED EMERGENCY TREATMENT BUILDING OF RANAVIRU SEWANA - RAGAMA, DECLARED RE-OPENED

In line with the 70th anniversary of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, the President of Seva Vanitha Branch - Sri Lanka Engineers (SVB-SLE) together with Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and the Chief Field Engineer Major General Nihal Amarasekara USP ndu declared re-opened the newly refurbished emergency treatment building of the Ranaviru Sewana - Ragama on 13 November 2021.

This building has been maintained by the Sri Lanka Army Directorate of Rehabilitation since 1990 and it is the first built Ward in the rehabilitation centre. In the Ward, number of veteran troops were treated during last two decades of war and with the passage of time, the Ward became obsolete.

Under this latest refurbishment program the walls, floor, ablution annexes and the surroundings of the building received a facelift while the facilities for inmates were improved. The building which re-opened was renovated by the troops of 4 (V) Engineer Regiment within 10 days and the expenses of the renovation project was tolerated by the SVB-SLE.

The event was followed by an interaction with the inmates, Ward visit and a presentation.

The Chairperson of SVB-SLE, Mrs Shiromi Amarasekara, the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and the Chief Field Engineer Major General Nihal Amarasekara USP ndu, Senior member of SVB-SLE Mrs Subhashini Madurapperuma, Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Brigadier Manoj Madurapperuma RSP USP psc, Commandant of the Ranviru Sewana - Ragama, Brigadier Janaka Vithanachchi RWP USP, Deputy Commandant of the Ranviru Sewana - Ragama Brigadier Bandula Bandara RSP, Staff Officer 1 (VA) Lieutenant Colonel Thissa Herath SLE, Commanding Offficer of 4 (V) Engineer Regiment Major Sampath Fernando SLE, Senior Officers and Officers were present on the occasion.

On behalf of the Commandant of Ranaviru Sewana, the Lieutenant Colonel Pradeep Dodampage RWP GW delivered a thanking speech and praised the effort taken by SVB-SLE to uplift the standards of the rehabilitation centre. Finally, mementoes were handed over to the president of SVB-SLE, Mrs Shiromi Amarasekara, Senior member of SVB-SLE Mrs Subhashini Madurapperuma by Commandant of the Ranviru Sewana - Ragama, Brigadier Janaka Vithanachchi RWP USP and marked the occasion a memorable one.

The programme was held strictly complying to the COVID 19 Health guidelines.
