The Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and the Chief Field Engineer Maj Gen AN Amarasekara USP ndu made his initial visit to Headquarters, General Engineering Brigade at Kachchigala, Embilipitiya on 25 February 2021.
After being appointed as the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, choosing to make his first visit to General Engineering Brigade was an inspiration to the Officers and Other Ranks of the brigade Headquarters. Lt Col F Joseph USP SLE, overlooking Brigade Commander of the General Engineering Brigade, having welcomed the Colonel Commandant to the camp premises and briefed the role and tasks of General Engineering Brigade including presently ongoing government projects vested by Engineer Division.
As per the itinerary of the Brigade Colonel Commandant of Corps of Engineers Maj Gen A N Amarasekara USP ndu planted a sampling in the camp premises and there after he addressed the officers and men of the General Engineering Brigade emphasizing Commander of the Army’s vision on raising the Brigade. The address was held adhering the health and safety guideline of Covid-19. Further, to symbolize the Colonel Commandant’s arrival he unveiled the Headquarters insignia at the entrance to the camp.
General Engineering Brigade of Engineer Davison was raised and established on 28 October 2020 as per the concept of Commander of the Sri Lanka Army to assist the government in undertaking of Nation Building projects. As at today this brigade has completed construction works for 03 school projects and 22 school projects/ playground construction are underway.
Staff Officers of RHQ - SLE and all under command battalion Commanders of the General Engineering Brigade namely, Lt Col RT Ganegoda SLE - Commanding Officer 1 SLE, Maj BMP Beligahawatta RSP SLE - Commanding Officer 15(V) SLE, Maj KWGUM Gunathilake Lsc CES - Commanding Officer 12(V) CES and Officers and ORs of Brigade HQ participated for this event at Kachchigala, Embilipitiya.
