I, as the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, take pride in extending my heartiest congratulations to the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on its 69th Anniversary that falls on 9th November 2020.

Valiant Sappers of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers has made an unparalleled contribution in the battlefield by setting the conditions ideal for both war and the peace over the years. It is significant to note that, the members of the Corps have been dominant in expanding its prowess not only in its classical duties but also in nation-building and disaster management as a professional force. I also commend the incomparable professional progress and vividly proven exceptional caliber of the Corps since its inception.

It is with great pleasure, I commend All Ranks of the Corps for the painstaking efforts, excellent planning and efficient execution of every task entrusted both in operational and other professional engagements. Further, it is with profound honour and respect, I pay my tribute to the memory of fallen patriotic War Heroes of the Corps who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and I also wish a speedy recovery to all wounded in action in attending the noble cause of safeguarding the motherland.

I earnestly wish that the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers be endowed with strength and courage to reach greater heights whilst being true to its motto “Motherland Honour & Service”.
