12 FILED ENGINEER REGIMENT TROOPS RENOVATE THE PLAYGROUND OF SIRI SAMAN NATIONAL SCHOOL AND CONSTRUCT A ROAD FROM NELUWA TO LANKAGAMA

During a visit made by HE the president to the Deraniyagla area on 18 July 20, the residents and children of the area were requested that play ground of the Siri Saman National School in Deraniyagla to be renovate.

Accordingly, HE the president instructed to Commander of the Army to carry out the task. Since, the task was given to the Commander Engineer Brigade, Brigadier Pradeep Gunawardena by the Commander of the Army. The Commander Engineer Brigade, swiftly acted upon that and instructed to the Commanding Officer of 12 Filed Engineer Regiment, Maj G J P de Silva SLE.

On 18 July, the same day midnight 12 Filed Engineer Regiment 1x12 troops reached to Derniyagala with all required machinery and vehicles that needed to renovate the playground. The troops were commanded by Officer Commanding 124 Plant Squadron, Capt GAMRDB Udurawana USP SLE under supervision and guidance of the Commanding Officer.

About 90% progress of the project has completed currently and the completion of this project has been hampered due to the heavy rains on that area. But 12 Filed Engineer troops have been working on that since on 18 July and the task is going to be finished with effort of the troops.

Similarly, another task was given to 12 Filed Engineer Regiment by Commander of the Army via the Commander Engineer Brigade. Meanwhile, another group of soldiers (10) with required machinery and vehicles had been reached to Neluwa on 31 July 20. The troops were commanded by the Troop Commander 124 Plant Squadron, Capt PADWW Wickramasinghe SLE.

With the help of the Ministry of Roads and Highways 12 Filed Engineer Regiment undertook the constructions of Neluwa to Lankagama road with distance of approximately 7km. 12 Filed Engineer troops has been carrying out the task under supervision and guideline of Commander of the Army, the Commander Engineer Brigade and the Commanding Officer of the unit.
