OPENING OF NEW PALALI TANK “RAVINDU WAPI” CONSTRUCTED BY 10 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Creating another glorious remark in the history of 10 Field Engineer Regiment, newly constructed tank named “Ravindu Wapi” was declared open by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc on 18th July 2020 with the invitation of Commander of Security Forces Jaffna, Major General PR Wanigasooriya VSV USP ndu USAGCSC. This tank was raised in the concept preserving of seasonal rain water collected in the Jaffna land, honoring the ancient king Parakramabahu’s saying “not even a little water that comes from the rain must flow into the ocean without being made useful to man".

Construction of the Tank “Ravindu Wapi” was started in 09th of July 2019,with the initiation of former Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and former Commander of Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna, Major General (Rtd) DDUK Hettiarachchi RSP VSV USP ndupsc with the aim of comfortably providing water requirement for many agricultural farms maintaining by the Jaffna civilians and military itself. “Ravindu Wapi” which can carry a volume of 65,000 cubic meters of water, consists of 600 m long bund, 750 m long jogging track with 40 feet long improvised bridge over the spill, which were constructed by enormous contribution of 10 Field Engineer Regiment who were behind the stage of this mega project from the beginning to the end.
