THE OFFICERS OF 8TH ENGINEERING BRIGADE ROYAL ENGINEERS VISITED TO SRI LANKA SCHOOL OF MILITARY ENGINEERING

The delegation of 8th Engineering Brigade Royal Army UK had visited the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering on 11th February 2020. This visit was scoping to access C-IED methodologies, see the capabilities of EOD equipment and share the lesson learnt with past three decade of war.

Delegation was consist with Lt Col Phil Moore RE, Maj Nige Marsh RE from Royal Engineers and Sqn Ldr Paul Allen RAF. The Chief Field Engineer Major General HRKP Peiris USP ndu and Commander Engineer Brigade Brigadier AN Amarasekara USP ndu also graced occasion and Commandant welcome the delegation to the school.

Following Programme has been conducted and delegation was impressed about the professionalism of the C-IED methodologies available in Sri Lanka. This Goodwill visit enhanced the knowledge of C-IED and the EOD tasks of both countries.

a. Introduction presentation by a member of delegation
b. Demonstration on counter IED
c. Briefing on equipment used and associated issues
d. Briefing on search capability and post scene management
e. Briefing on training facilities
f. Demonstration of explosive detection dogs
g. Briefing on lesson learnt mechanism
