OUTGOING CHIEF FIELD ENGINEER WAS HONOURED WITH FAREWELL FORMALITIES

A farewell for retiring Major General Thissa Nanayakkara, the Chief Field Engineer of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, was held on 25 November 2019 at Corps Headquarters. A large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and the Other Ranks attended the event. Major General Thissa Nanayakkara enlisted to the Army on 05 August 1985, as an Officer Cadet to the Sri Lanka Military Academy and served more than 34 years in the Army. During his illustrious Military career he held number of key appointments in the Sri Lanka Army including Area Commander (Mannar), General Officer Commanding of 11, 54, 56, 68 Divisions and the Chief Field Engineer.

Major General Thissa Nanayakkara on his arrival to the Corps Headquarters was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Ravindra Dias and accorded with a Guard Turnout. Afterwards, he laid a floral wreath to the war heroes’ monument and then he was bestowed with a parade. Afterwards, all the distinguished invitees attended in a tea at the Utility building. Thereafter, As per the military traditions and the customs retiring Major General Thissa Nanayakkara was hosted a Farewell Dinner at the Officers’ Mess. Large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers attended in the Farewell Dinner along with their spouses.
