68 Officer Cadets of Intake 88, Lady Intake 16 (V) and 17 (V) presently under training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy Diyatalawa paid an scholastic visit to Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering on 16 September 2019. The Chief Instructor extended a warm welcome to the Cadet Officers and instructors on their arrival at Headquarters SLSME.
The commencement of the visit programme marked the comprehensive presentation conducted introducing the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, School of Military Engineering and highlighting role and tasks of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The visiting team subsequently walked through the demonstration areas to witness the demonstrations and briefings arranged at SLSME Museum, IED Model Village, EOD Model Room, Plant Engineering Wing and Barbed Wire and Concertina Demonstration Areas. The boat ride arranged at Chandrika Wewa during evening hours found more enthusiastic amongst all Officer Cadet Participants.
The exchange of mementoes took place before the departure and during a brief ceremony held. Officer Cadets presented a memento to the School appreciating the assistance extended during the visit. The visit programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Lt Col Manoj Madurapperuma the Commandant SLSME. Officers and Other Rank Instructors were able to impart comprehensive knowledge about the Corps of Engineers to the cadets during the short duration they stayed at SLSME.
