SLNG SOLDIERS TRANSFORMED TO ENGINEERS

One hundred twenty soldiers belonged to Sri Lanka National Guard were transferred to Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers recently. These soldiers were transferred from their joining regiments to Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers under the right sizing scheme of Sri Lanka Army.

These soldiers were welcome to the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and planning to post out to 4(V) SLE and 15(V) SLE Regiments which contribute to the nation development projects such as Defence Headquarters Construction project and Pibidemu Polonnaruwa. As an orientation, Engineer Brigade conducted a basic induction and orientation course for batch of soldiers at Headquarters Engineer Brigade and Sirisara Pivisuma project sites from 29 March to 12 May 2019 with the directions and instructions of Chief Field Engineer, Major General HRKP Peiris USP ndu. During the briefed course, these soldiers were able to acquire knowledge on basic field engineering and plant engineering operations while understanding the role and tasks of Corps.

At the successful completion of the induction training, transferred soldiers were worn cap badge of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers at a briefed ceremony held at Headquarters Engineer Brigade on 14 May 2019. The new members of corps were worn their head dresses by Commander Engineer Brigade, Brigadier AN Amarasekara USP ndu, Colonel Projects of Engineer Brigade and Plant Engineer Brigade, Commanding Officer and Second in Command of 8 Field SLE and other staff officers of Engineer Brigade at the ceremony. New members to the Corps will be joining with nation development projects under the command of Plant Engineer Brigade soon.
