TROOPS OF THE CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS ARE CONTINUING THE RESCUE AND RELIEF OPERATIONS IN THE FLOOD AND LANDSLIDE HIT AREAS

Hundreds of Engineer troops have been deployed to carry out rescue and relief operations after floods and landslides resulted from torrential rains over most parts in the country which claimed number of lives and displaced thousands of people. Engineers are still engaging in rescue and relief operations with the assistance of residents, government and non-government organizations. Thousands of people stranded and stay in their houses due to floods most of the areas such as Wellampitiya, Kelanimulla, Dompe, Kaduwela, Malwana and in Colombo District particularly embankment of Kaleni River. The rescue and relief operations in Kegalle and Colombo Districts are still continuing under supervision and direction of Headquarters of Chief Field Engineers and Engineer Brigade.
