WASHED AWAY PATHTHINIGODA BRIDGE AT PITIGALA DUE TO FLOOD WAS RAPIDLY RENOVATED BY SAPPER TROOPS OF 12 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Due to the heavy rain on last week, daily routine of the people severely affected in Kalutara district. Due the rain, water level of Kalu river, Bentara river were increased and low lands were submerged. Hence, movements have been restricted and some of the bridges were washed away due to the water current.

Paththinigoda wood bridge was heavily damaged. It across the one of tributary of Bentara river at Pitigala North and it provides movement facility for the 150 families. The length of the bridge is 86 ft and width is 12 ft. 02 x 20 soldiers of 12 Field Engineer Regiment under 612 Infantry Brigade were tasked to establish the movement across the river as soon as possible. With combat expertise engineering knowledge, Sapper troops of 12 Field Engineer Regiment renovated the bridge and established the movement within 12 hours.
