VSV CONFERRED ON CREAM OF SAPPERS FOR THEIR UNBLEMISHED CAREER
The conferment of Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV) decoration Medal by HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on 6 sapper officers, took place on 8 October 2015.
The VSV conferred on Six Senior Sapper Officers out of Twenty senior Officers of Sri Lanka Army in recognition of their exceptional, unblemished, distinguished, uninterrupted and loyal service with a record of moral and military conduct is an exclusive decoration normally be awarded to officers of the rank of Lieutenant Colonels and above in the Army.
Army officers in service, Lieutenant General A W J C De Silva RWP USP ndu psc the Commander of the Army, Major General H C P Goonetilleke RSP USP ndc psc Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General L N Wickramasuriya RSP USP ndu psc Chief of Staff of the OCDS, Major General N J Walgama RSP USP ndu psc Commander, SF HQ (East) and the retired Major General V U B Nanayakkara (Retd) USP ndu Hdmc received those decorations during the ceremony.
In addition, the spouse of late Major General K J Wijetilleke RWP USP ndc psc posthumously accepted the decoration at the same occasion from the Chief Guest.
